Family
Rights of parents, honoring elders, visiting the sick — and the duas that bind family together
“Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be good to your parents.”
Quran 17:23
Before a child is even conceived, Islam shapes the act with intention and du'a. The Prophet ﷺ taught that saying Allah's name beforehand keeps Shaytan from harming the offspring. The prophets of old asked Allah for righteous children — and we are taught to ask in their words.
Du'a Before Intimacy
Bismillah, Allahumma jannibna ash-Shaytana wa jannib ash-Shaytana ma razaqtana
“In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep Shaytan away from us, and keep Shaytan away from what You provide us.”
The promise
The Prophet ﷺ said: if a child is decreed for them, Shaytan will never be able to harm that child. A simple sentence before intimacy can shape the spiritual fate of a life not yet conceived.
Du'as of the Prophets for Righteous Offspring
Rabbi hab li mina as-salihin
“My Lord, grant me one of the righteous.”
Rabbi hab li min ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibah, innaka Sami'u ad-du'a
“My Lord, grant me from Yourself a pure offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.”
Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama
“Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and our offspring a coolness of the eyes, and make us a leader of the righteous.”
Rabbi-j'alni muqima as-salati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du'a
“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and from my offspring. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.”
